Education
I am a Junior majoring in Secondary English Education at New York University. My GPA as of January 2015 is 3.9.
Experience
I am currently majoring in education, and any experience working with students is beneficial to both my current studies and my future job prospects. I have a passion for reading and writing and love to help students in those areas most of all, but I am happy to tutor in other subject areas and have a broad range of former experience. I have been working as a classroom tutor at an elementary school on the Upper East Side since February 2014, and have privately tutored a 4th grade boy in reading and writing and a 9th grade girl in writing skills, reading comprehension, and general study skills. I received a score of 1990 on the SAT, a 30 on the ACT, and a score of 5 on the AP Language and Composition, AP Literature and Composition, and AP Art History tests. I have taken many classes specializing in teaching methods and techniques and will begin student teaching in a local secondary school in the fall of 2015. I am currently enrolled in classes that focus on the teaching of writing, poetry, and history. In the past, I have taken classes on the teaching of short stories, religious theory, British literature of the 19th century, and modern American plays and playwrights, as well as many others.
