Experience
I earned my bachelor's degree at Columbia University, where I specialized in world literature. I continued my education at Hunter College, where I earned my Master of Arts in Adolescent English Education. I have nearly a decade of teaching and tutoring experience, and have spent time teaching literature and non-fiction to students to learners of all abilities in middle school and high school using the Common Core curriculum.As a teacher and tutor, I know that each student learns in their own way. I tailor my teaching style to make the process of learning enjoyable and meaningful, and emphasize that achieving and struggling are both valid ways to discover one's strengths and weaknesses. During my graduate studies, I learned a variety of methods to help students conquer their academic challenges, and enjoy helping students achieve their academic goals in reading, expository writing, fiction writing, poetry, American literature, British literature, and related AP-level courses. I am also able to help students study for the ACT, GRE, PSAT, SAT, SHSAT, and SSAT on a comprehensive level, but I most enjoy helping students prepare for the written portions of these exams. In my spare time, I enjoy writing songs, playing guitar, practicing Tai Chi, and meditation.
