Experience

Hi everyone! I'm a Princeton graduate (AB English Program 5: Theatre and Dance) and professional Equity actress. I've been tutoring for 10 years, and I specialize in Latin, particularly the first 3 years and mastering basics of grammar, construction and translation. I also frequently tutor English literature, writing/essays, and I coach theatre, particularly for performing arts school auditions: monologues, songs, and Shakespeare. I love teaching, and I'm especially passionate about Latin and Shakespeare. I recognize that every student has different strengths and weaknesses and everyone needs an individualized approach. I balance humor with rigidity and my students always enjoy our sessions. However, I get proven results, even with the toughest cases. I believe in igniting in students an excitement for learning as well as the necessary skills they need to improve on paper and tests. I believe most extraordinarily in the power of positive reinforcement and encouragement, and nothing bolsters faltering students better than consistent improvement. I studied Latin at Boston Latin School for 6 years, getting 5's on both Latin AP Virgil and Horace/Catullus. I studied it for all four years I was at Princeton as well, though I decided to major in English. As an actress, I studied at the London Academy of Dramatic Art, and also graduated from the Academy of Classical Acting at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA. I've worked all over the country, including off-Broadway here in NYC (59e59, the Clurman, Pershing Square Signature Centre) and extensive regional credits (Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Public Theatre Maine, Florida Studio Theatre, New Repertory Theatre, and Speakeasy Stage among many others.) I believe in an ongoing process of learning in my own life, and am beginning the process of getting designated in the Linklater Voice technique. I love helping people overcome obstacles, and I look forward to working with some of you.
