Private tutor in New York, NY

Education

University of Buenos Aires - BS, Physics , University of Buenos Aires - PhD, Physics During my PhD research, I have worked in the area of magnetohydrodynamics turbulence. The main goal was to describe the dynamics observed in the solar wind and magnetic loops in the solar corona. As result of this work, I published seven papers in peer-reviewed journals from the American Physical Society, the American Institute of Physics, and Advances in Space Research (an Elsevier journal).

Experience

I am a Ph.D. in physics who over the course of several years has given private classes and tutoring sessions to university and high school students on mathematics and physics. Regarding to my methods and style, I mainly focus on using clear and simple explanations, working with many examples and always ensuring that the students are able to perform the exercises by themselves (this is the most important point in my approach!). During part of each class, my students participate in a practice test environment, performing half or entire real tests in real time. For all tutoring, I will help students with materials they want to work on, or I will provide the material if they prefer (I have a wide variety of books and tests!). Extensive experience in test prep tutoring: GRE, GMAT, SAT, ACT, CUNY assessment test, SSAT, GED, ASVAB I conduct the tutoring seasons in student's home, libraries and public spaces. A little about me and my experience: While my career and goals have been oriented to scientific research, I have always had a great interest in teach Physics and Mathematics. Over the course of several years I gave private classes and tutoring sessions to university and high schools students on physics and mathematics at a wide variety of topics such as calculus, algebra, linear algebra, geometry, trigonometry, probability & statistics, multi-variable calculus, complex analysis, differential equations, mechanics, kinematics, dynamics, electromagnetism, and thermodynamics. I have been an assistant teacher in the Department of Physics at the University of Buenos Aires. Over two years I led problem solving sessions in courses of classical electrodynamics, mechanical statistics, classical mechanics, and thermodynamics. I have also participated in giving physics classes for biologists. During the last school year I worked as a full time math fellow for Saga Innovations, a non-profit organization working towards high school math proficiency in the New York City public school system; My role there was as a high frequency math tutor working at Thomas Jefferson High School which included tasks such as writing progress reports, monitoring students, and engaging with parents through weekly phone calls. I am a native Spanish speaker, so I am able to give classes in Spanish as well. Let me know if you have any question!!
