Professor P.

Private tutor in New York, NY

Education

WHARTON FINANCE, BS, Economics. HARVARD Law School, JD. COLUMBIA Business School, PhD, Finance.

Experience

I have three Ivy League degrees, and I am a retired professor and Wall Street fund manager. I taught finance, economics, investments and business at the collegiate level. I bring both advanced teaching skills and real world experience to motivate the learning process. I am easy to relate to and I use humor, encouragement and understanding to connect with my students. I STRUGGLED in high school. I know what that's like. Then, my parents provided me with an SAT tutor This changed my life. My tutor taught me to think clearly, efficiently and precisely. Most importantly, he made learning FUN and EXCITING! I aced the SAT and LSAT. I scored 99.99+% on the GMAT. It was the top score that year. I received scholarships for my entire education. I won Harvard's Litigation Competition and served as a prosecutor in Massachusetts. I won the Columbia Business School teaching award and became a professor of finance. I then had a successful career on Wall Street. Now, I give back by helping students succeed in school. I have students of all ages. I even home-schooled my own kids and got them into Harvard early action. Invest in your or your child's education. It's worth every penny many times over. The benefits of a great tutor or mentor are priceless and last a lifetime. I specialize in tutoring the SAT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, as well as the TOEFL and general excellence in math, writing and English. Also, I tutor and mentor students in economics, finance, business and law. If you need help understanding financial statements or putting together a real business plan, I'm your guy. I hold myself to a high standard. For that reason, I often ask for feedback, and I never bill for a lesson in which the student or parent is not completely satisfied with my tutoring. I tutor students in my home-office near Columbia University. However, I am happy to travel to another location if that is more convenient for the student. I am expensive ($200/hr) but worth it. I am also flexible and sensitive to a budget. I have a two hour minimum. Contact me to discuss how I can help you.

Hobbies

I often get involved with the entire application process. I help my students do well on the exams, I edit their college and graduate school essays and I coach them for their interviews for schools as well as for jobs. After getting them admitted, I often help my students in finance, economics and statistics courses. I am also asked to mentor professionals who are looking for a way to advance their understanding of business, economics or finance. I also enjoy cooking and reading.
