Experience
I have always appreciated the profound impact my professors and teachers have made on my personal, academic, and professional life. Now, as a teacher myself, I hope to have the same kind of positive effect on my pupils. Because of my education in China I am a fluent writer and speaker of Mandarin. Because of my experience as an Accounting student at SUNY - Geneseo, and my time employed within the financial industry, I have developed a solid academic foundation in Professional Writing, Financial Accounting, Math, and Economics. These skills allow me to serve as a tutor and a mentor. I have taught a wide range of students at every academic level. I try to be engaging and creative in my instruction, as well as encouraging and thorough. I do not believe in just teaching the answers, I want my students to be skilled in logic, analysis, and critical thinking. Most recently, I have worked with a number of college students and one young child. The college students are generally working in financial accounting, and my one young student is learning Mandarin Chinese. For him, I work to encourage him to develop and exercise skill in speaking, listening, and simple Chinese reading skills, and most importantly, a curiosity about the Chinese culture.In my free time I like to watch movies, read books (particularly of poetry), and play video games. I also like musicals and good food.
