Experience

In my career in education, I have mentored and tutored many students in math and science. My favorite subject to teach is biology. My teaching philosophy is to have both a high regard for my students, and high expectations of them as well. I am firm and do not like excuses; yet, will always be a source of warm guidance and support. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and minored in chemistry at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After college, I worked for three years at Teach for America. I taught for Teach for America at a middle school, as a science teacher in Atlanta, Georgia. My students were from low-income communities in the city. In addition to teaching, I continued my education. I went to graduate school at Georgia State University, where I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Science Education.Currently, I am a researcher at a cellular neurology lab in New York. When I am not teaching or tutoring, I enjoy Judo, basketball, and playing chess. Due to my background, I tutor a lot of math and science subjects, including chemistry, microbiology, physics, evolution, biology, algebra 1, geometry, and others. I also tutor social studies and AP government and politics.
