I recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in cognitive science and minors in French and computer science. During my time as a college student, I also worked as a tutor and helped a number of my students gain a better understanding of economics, computer science, the French language, linguistics, and even psychology. My experience as a student has taught me that two of the most important keys to academic success are good study habits and proper time management skills. For this reason, I help students learn how to effectively prepare for tests, manage their study time more efficiently, and come up with ways to help them retain the information they've recently learned. Along with being a tutor, I also spend time working in the community and have volunteered for organizations that help build shelters for people affected by natural disasters. When it comes to teaching, I believe that it's important to build a professional relationship with your students so that you get to know their interests, strengths, and weaknesses. Once you have a better understanding of who your student is, you can then come up with ways to design material that helps them build upon their existing skill set.
