Washington University in St. Louis - BA, Anthropology, Educational Studies
My favorite thing about teaching is editing essays, so I truly enjoy tutoring writing skills. However, my tutoring subjects also include mathematics (arithmetic, algebra, and geometry), English (grammar, reading comprehension, and literature), and standardized test preparation for the SAT and ACT.I went to college in St. Louis at Washington University, where I received a B.A. in Anthropology and Educational Studies. After teaching for Breakthrough Collaborative and completing college courses on teaching, I believe I have very good qualifications and experience for tutoring. I have recently secured a position at Renaissance High School as a Geometry TA. When I'm tutoring or teaching, I don't just go through the material. My goal is to find out where students need more information or help, so I try to let students lead. Then I can step in and get them on track to understand all the concepts they need in order to establish a strong foundation in the subject. Adapting to where students are at is the key to full mastery.I must admit I am happiest when I can swim. I was on school and college water polo teams for years. I also love solving crosswords and reading books (preferably at the beach)!
