Private tutor in New York, NY
Washington University in St Louis - BA, English , St. Johns in Queens - MA, 7-12 ELA Education
I most recently graduated from St. John's University with a master's degree in English. Prior to St. John's, I got an undergraduate degree in English from Washington University, located in St. Louis. I hold the proper certifications for teaching English to middle and high school students in New York City. I also have three years of experience working for the Department of Education. My background in education and tutoring is heavy-handed; I have extensive experience in tutoring math, English, and tests, including the SAT and ACT. One thing that sets me apart as a tutor is that I believe in the use of new technology to help students engage in the learning process. I have been popular with the students that I have tutored previously because of my use of computers and applications. Working in an urban classroom setting in NYC caused me to open my eyes to challenges and how cultural experiences can be used to enhance learning. I try to make examinations as diverse as possible so that every student has the chance to display their unique knowledge and skill set. As a writer and literary magazine owner, I try to get each of my students to engage in the writing process in order to expand their communication and English skills. When I am not teaching, I am engaging the learning process by growing my magazine and teaching myself new applications and technological products.
