I graduated the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. I have experience tutoring a wide range of students, from kindergarten children to high school students preparing for the SAT. My teaching experience, both in and outside the classroom, has given me the necessary skills needed to customize my curriculum to suit my students' unique personalities and learning styles.As a teacher, I believe that confidence and a positive attitude are essential to academic success. I work hard to implement this philosophy through encouragement and positive reinforcement. I strive to make my students feel comfortable in the classroom, and understand that making mistakes is part of the learning experience.I tutor a number of subjects, such as elementary and middle school math, pre-algebra and algebra one, linear algebra, pre-calculus, geometry, reading, writing, phonics, literature, and English. However, I especially enjoy preparing students for the math, verbal, writing, and critical reading portions of the SAT. I find this to be a rewarding experience because it allows me to help students work towards being accepted to their dream university.I currently live in New York City, where I spend my time reading, cooking, and playing the piano. I also enjoy traveling and being around my friends and family.
