I have a lifelong love and appreciation for the field of mathematics. My parents tell a funny story of how they discovered that giving me complex math problems to solve kept me occupied and out of trouble for long periods of time as a child. It worked better than video games. As my love and appreciation for mathematics grew, I began exploring the many ways math is used in day-to-day life. This knowledge increased my respect for the discipline, and I continued exploring it on all levels. By my senior year in high school, I was a math whiz kid. My entire senior calculus class had the proud distinction of receiving the highest possible score on the AP Calculus exam. Following high school, I entered college and began my mathematics paper chase. At that point, I believed my career path would be in one of the engineering fields. But, while I was working towards my undergraduate degree, I fell in love with teaching. This interest in education began when I started tutoring fellow students in my dorm. Sharing my vast store of knowledge with others inspired me enough to change my major to education.
