I have a B.S. in Biochemical Science and Technology from National Taiwan University. As a tutor, I work with students in a variety of subject areas, but Mandarin Chinese, Science, and Math are the subjects of which I am most passionate. Since I found these subjects difficult while I was in school, I understand the challenges that students can face in the classroom environment. A relocation to Taiwan during high school left me in a school where I barely spoke the language and was not able to keep pace with the science and math curriculum. The combination of support from a teacher, perseverance, and independent problem-solving allowed me to make considerable improvements, eventually moving up to the top three in my school.I have been involved with tutoring other students since my second year of college. I have worked with all age ranges, with a focus on independent problem-solving and student development. My students and I always enjoy science as we explore the ways that certain areas can be applied to everyday life through the use of experiments, videos, and fun facts. I advocate for independent problem-solving and learning because efforts that are motivated by a passion for learning are essential for success both in school and in life. I encourage students to embrace curiosity and to ask questions.I tutor students in middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry, geometry, biology, chemistry, and Mandarin Chinese.In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, playing piano, drawing, inline skating, and table tennis.
