Experience

I am a teacher of History, French, and Information Literacy & Research Skills at an independent school in Manhattan. I also serve as a Learning Center and Writing Center Specialist. A decade of teaching and 15 years tutoring has strenghtened my ability to engage and challenge diverse learners. My specialties are reading, writing and research skills in History, English, Philosophy and other social sciences. I also tutor French, Italian and Spanish and am proficient in these languages. As a former NYC Public School Social Studies, English and ESL teacher, I am well-versed in the Common Core curriculum, Regents exams and APs. In addition, I work during the summer as an ESL-Educational Skills Adjunct Instructor at FIT and St. John's University, where I help students from across the globe master the skills they need in college. I prepare students for the SAT, AP, ACT, NYSESLAT, TOEFL, Regents, higher education and the workplace. A deep passion for lifelong learning has deepened my insight into multiple intelligences, learning differences, and the varied lives of urban adolescents. My strong academic and pedagogical skills, my creativity, and my ability to connect with each individual student makes me an effective, engaging and fun tutor. I enjoy watching you succeed!
