Dedicated to ensuring the success of all my students, I have spent the past five years of my teaching career working closely with diverse children and families in New York City. I attained my Bachelors of Arts in English with a concentration in adolescent education at Hunter College and soon after completed a Masters of Science Magna Cum Laude in General Education as well as Special Education. As a certified NYS tenured teacher, I have worked in various educational settings. I began my career in a high performing general education classroom teaching second grade students. The following year I worked with a small group of third, fourth, and fifth grade students with special needs in a self-contained classroom. As an integral part of teaching this diverse group, I became very well adept at customizing curriculum to meet individual needs. The latter part of my teaching experience has been in an integrated co-teaching environment, providing me the opportunity to work with both general education and special education students. My experiences have given me the knowledge to effectively plan and deliver curriculum based on the common core, tailor interactive lessons to individual student needs, and collaborate with families in order to help students maximize their full potential. Crucial to my core belief that teaching involves educating and nurturing the whole child, I am committed to knowing my students on a deep level so that I can provide the most effective support. I look forward to and gladly welcome new and exciting opportunities for teaching and learning.
