- I have had experince tutoring elementary and middle school students in reading and writing. - I am a New York City teacher, who teaches in a public school. - I have certifications in four areas (reading, deaf and hard of hearing, childhood elementary and special education) - I would like to become a tutor because some students need that extra help to reach their fullest potential. Tutors provide that extra support that is needed to ensure the child/children is performing to his/her ability. In addition, tutoring provides the child/children with the confidence he/she needs to do his/her best because he/she is receiving individual and the tutor's undivided attention. - Lead Teacher for Special Education Teacher Support Services (SETSS) March 2014 – June 2014 Worked in capacity of Special Education Teacher Support Services (SETSS) in a variety of grades between elementary and middle school. Experiences include: i. Teaching students who are performing in reading and writing below their grade level. ii. Collaborating with classroom teachers to discuss the progress of students. iii. Assess students in reading by administering informal assessment. iv. Writing lesson plans for English Language Arts. v. Teaching guided reading and writing to small groups of students. vi. Modifying and differentiating ELA materials to ensure the needs of students are met.
