Private tutor in New York, NY
Education
I am a Junior at Princeton University, majoring in Computer Science in the Engineering department. I spent my last semester abroad in Barcelona, studying Informatics Engineering and will graduate in June of 2017. I attended high school in Manhattan, NY at Ramaz Upper School. Next year I will be working as a Software Engineer in NYC.
Experience
This past summer, I interned at Jet.com on the Category Experience team. This involved project management, HTML/CSS, user experience--- a cross between business and technology. I was responsible for updating the homepage every week! I was also there to witness Walmart's acquisition of Jet in my last two weeks. In the summer of 2015, I worked as a Data Science Research Analyst at a startup called, Intervyo, in Tel Aviv, Israel. In the summer of 2014, I worked at iD Tech Camps (a tech camp for children 7 - 17 years old) at Columbia University. I taught Minecraft, photoshop, MC edit and other computer games/programs to a group of 10 - 12 year old children. The groups changed every 2 weeks, and each teacher was responsible for their own class of 10 children. Last year, I met bi-weekly with an 8th grader that was struggling to keep up with the material in his Algebra class. We reviewed the topics learned in class each week. I created lesson plans and exercises to explain and test the student s knowledge of those concepts. We were able to substantially raise the student's semester grade and strengthen his love for math. Lastly, the summer before college, I worked as a camp counselor at Ramah Day Camp in Nyack. I have greatly enjoyed all my time spent with children. I believe we grow as adults when we are forced to set good examples and share our skills and knowledge with someone else. Furthermore, I want to spread my passion for computer science, math and learning. I was privileged with intelligent, supportive teachers as I was growing up and I cannot imagine where I would have been today without them. I want to do the same and give other students the support and encouragement they need to succeed.
