Nora S.

Private tutor in New York, NY

Education

University of Virginia, Biochemistry and Physics (3.11), 156 credits (2013) I have a year's experience of tutoring organic chemistry students in New York City. I graduated from the University of Virginia in the Honors Chemistry track. Chemistry and physics are lenses through which I view the world. As a visual-tactile synesthete, I love explaining conceptual connections to students.

Experience

My style of teaching relies on creating fluency by initially using parallel concepts and metaphors that can create a more concrete "sense" of the subject the student can work in. Students generally enjoy my style of teaching and have found it very insightful and helpful. I am a "crisis" tutor who will help students all night long for problem sets, homework or exams. Past employers of mine have included the US Department of Energy, the University of Virginia Clinical Psychiatry Unit and the University of Virginia Biology Department.
