I'm recently retired.(June 2014). I was a NYC Bd of Education teacher from 1986-2014. I am highly qualified in student assessment and IEP(Individualized Education Plan)writing. Assessments were key in designing a curriculum to support students' individual needs and aligned with the Common Core Learning Standards. I reviewed and provided feedback in reading, math and writing assignments to both students, teachers and parents. I tutored students during the extended day. I assisted them in completing homework assignments and clarifying when they exhibited confusion. I utilized Orton-Gillingham Methods and Lexia Phonics Support Programs to strengthen students' reading skills. I incorporated a variety of math manipulatives and materials in small group instruction. I prepared student for examinations based on NY state curriculum and testing guidelines. I administered tests on exam and make-up dates. I was familiar with the rubrics used for grading ELA and Math exams. Students must inform me at least 24 hours before if they plan to cancel, otherwise they will be expected to pay for the missed session.
