I received an Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Information Systems MS degree at Baruch College. Before that I received an BS in Physics at Ocean University of China (2011). My education allows me to have an open-minded perspective of learning and living, and language is a tool that helps us understand this world a little better.
Experience
I've been tutoring for 3+ years. One of my students who decided to take AP Chinese exam got a very good grade last year. Right now, I'm teaching a 11th grade girl about every aspect of Chinese, who is also taking this year's AP exam. Professionally, I work as a Business Analyst in adtech. My interests in technology and work experience allow me to combine interesting stories with your language level and create a customized plan for every student. My specialty is working with native English speakers pursuing intermediate level of Chinese learning, utilizing technology like short video clips, google docs, wechat, and other tools to make learning fun and fruitful. Since I have been studying English for 10+ years. I understand the cultural obstacles between these two languages that are uniquely challenging to English speakers. I find it really rewarding to help people achieve their language goals, since I too had struggled to learn a foreign language. Now I'm all about bring that experience and skills learned along the way for other people to learn and grow, and to have more perspectives about the world. In my spare time, I enjoyed attempting new recipes, hiking, skiing, and exploring new things around the city. I'd be more than happy to hear about your needs and learning goals!
