Eugene K.
Private tutor in New York, NY
Education
2008 B.S. Applied Mathematics, Columbia University
Experience
I am a graduate of Columbia University, class of 2008, with a degree in Applied Mathematics and a concentration in Computer Science. I am a researcher in the field of machine learning and statistical learning theory with applications to music & audio processing. I have been tutoring math and physics for eight years, and would be happy to provide references for past or current students on demand. I take an interactive approach to tutoring, and encourage students to give feedback, dictate the pace, and maintain a constant dialogue with me. I don't believe in lecturing too much--you will learn the material much more when you are talking out loud through examples with some guidance along the way. I give clear explanations for each important concept and do examples right after. Most importantly, I am laid back, friendly and easy to talk to; Lessons are thorough but generally informal. I also make myself available by phone and e-mail outside of lessons--My goal is for you to succeed on your tests. My expertise is in basic and advanced math: algebra 1/2, trigonometry, geometry, precalculus/analysis, calculus (AB/BC), and statistics. I also teach high school level physics 1 and 2. I can prepare students for AP tests in calculus, statistics, and physics, as well as the quantitative portions of the SAT, ACT, and NY state regents.
