Experience
In Taiwan, China, and the United States, I have taught Chinese, English, and other subjects for more than 8 years to hundreds of students. In addition to a bachelor's degree in international business from Taiwan's I-Shou University (2008), I earned a certificate in Chinese teaching from Sun Yet-sun University in 2010. In fall 2014, I will be attending to the graduate school of Bilingual childhood education at Hunter College, CUNY. The age and backgrounds of my students have been very diverse, and being adaptable and sympathetic to the needs of students are two of the most important things that I've gained from my experience. I have tutored students from the ages of 2 to 67 years old, from a Park Avenue financial executive to a retired professor. I have 5 years of experience teaching in small and large classrooms. One of these classes had almost 60 students from an undeserved community in China. Given this experience, I have the knowledge and ability to dynamically adjust teaching methods to meet students' needs. As a native Mandarin Chinese speaker, I am fluent in both traditional and simplified Chinese characters. I am familiar with the Pinyin system, which is used in China, and the Zhuyin system, which is used in Taiwan. This diverse knowledge provides students with different options for their Chinese learning.
