Experience
I began tutoring in high school as part of the National Honor Society, which required its members to put in several hours of tutoring. In college, I found it was a great part time job and whenever schoolwork would permit, I pursued tutoring, often as part of a babysitting job. My background is mainly in English and drama. At NYU, my classes were based heavily in reading and writing and as a result I'm especially comfortable working with students on essays and other writing assignments. I have taken several classes specifically on Shakespeare, which I know is often a struggle for students, and can help with understanding those texts. Last year, I was the Education intern for Atlantic Theater Company, where I was an assistant teacher in their children's acting classes and helped run student matinee performances and classroom visits. I spent a semester in London, where I volunteered at a primary school as a teaching assistant in a class of 7 year olds. I also worked as a camp counselor at a performing arts overnight camp for two summers in 2007 and 2008.
