Private tutor in New York, NY

Education

Columbia University, PhD in philosophy (1989) Princeton University, BA summa cum laude phi beta kappa in philosophy (1980)

Experience

I am a former tenured university professor. I have over 30 years of teaching experience, mostly at the university level, and 10 years experience sitting on a university admissions committee. For the last 5 years, I have been tutoring high school and undergraduate students privately, using preparation materials I have written myself. As a parent, I understand the educational challenges facing today’s adolescents. My goal is to help each student fulfill his or her maximum potential. My tutorees have achieved score increases of 300-600 points, and have been admitted to top universities including Princeton, Columbia, Georgetown, NYU and NYU-Abu Dhabi. I turned down a job offer to tutor the SAT for Ivy Bound to keep my services affordable for students. I am available for in-person tutoring in Manhattan during the summer months, and for Skype tutoring with collaborative online whiteboard during the entire year.
