Education
I received my B.S. in English and Biology from the University of Michigan, in 2009. In May 2015, I graduated with an MPH in Public Health/Epidemiology from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health (But forever and always, GO BLUE!). I am currently working in NYC as a Healthcare Analytics Associate.
Experience
I studied abroad at Oxford University St. Hugh's College as a scholarships student for a summer program, studying British Literature (specifically works by Jane Austen). I also have 5 years of work experience as a research assistant. I have worked at the University of Michigan's Cancer Research Center at a cancer prevention lab studying how certain food compounds can prevent and fight against cancer. As a graduate student, I worked as a research assistant at Weill Cornell Division of Geriatrics and at the Robert N. Butler Columbia Aging Center. I have been an independent tutor since 2007 and have experience primarily teaching college students, but have also taught students K-12. Subjects I have taught include AP and general Chemistry, AP and general Biology, MCAT biology, English (writing and critical analysis), English for non-native speakers (speech and conversation), and Math (elementary math, pre-Algebra, and Algebra). From several years of tutoring, I have developed the flexibility and adaptability to teach a variety of different students. I realize that each student has a unique learning style and am prepared to change my teaching techniques to best fit with the student and to ultimately help them excel. I am a firm believer of teaching material in a way that enables students to become experts enough to teach back to me.
