Experience

My Vision: To empower individuals to express their ideas in a way that demonstrates critical thinking and communicates empathy. **I am willing to edit essays; however, my goal is to equip you to write and edit on your own! I am also eager to help you learn how to cite; together, we can study the sources, quotes, & style guides (MLA, APA, etc.). I will assist with grammar, style and mechanics, but my focus tends to be on thesis, evidence, organization. Please include in your inquiry what you expect to receive from a tutoring session.** TUTORING/TEACHING EXPERIENCE: 5+ years of college teaching experience (English Composition 1 & 2, Intro to Literature, Research Writing, Humanities). The types of essays I teach regularly are Literacy Narratives, Visual Rhetoric, Comparative Analysis, Genre Analysis, Research argument, Annotated Bibliography, Website Design (Using Wix or SquareSpace only). I write Poetry, Personal Essays, & Critical Essays. I have also served in these roles: Academic Peer Coach (Leading Exam Reviews), Tutor (Writing Center), Reader/Editor (Literary Journal Submissions). I'd be happy to work with homeschooled or non-traditional students. I have worked with lifelong learners & adults returning to college too. I tend to work with high school and up; however, I have worked with elementary and middle school students in the past. Past Volunteer Experiences: Tutor, Cedar Cliff Elementary Tutoring, Thursday afternoons, Spring 2013; Teacher, Survey of Shakespeare Class, 25 high school students, 6 lessons, June & July 2012; Teacher, Sketching Art Class, Legacy Homeschool Group, 30 1st – 5th graders, 6 lessons, February – May 2007.
