EducationM.A. International Education at New York University
ExperienceI grew up in China and I am currently pursuing a Master's degree at New York University. I have instructed people from many countries in standard Mandarin, Chinese culture and Calligraphy. I am patient, interesting, always well-prepared for the class and very easy to get along with.
As a peripatetic girl who loves different cultures, I have enjoyed traveling, teaching while meeting nice and amazing people. With abundant intercultural communication and teaching experience from home and abroad, I am able to understand and comfortably teach people across cultural and geographic borders. Over the years, I have always made efforts to study cross-cultural exchange related fields and sought opportunities to have positive impacts on others. As an exchange student in England and Dominican Republic, an Olympic volunteer in China, an International development intern in Turkey and a Mandarin tutor in America, I have always been ready to work and help others with kindness and energy.
HobbiesI have a broad interests such as traveling, reading, dancing, listening to music, playing tennis, going to museums...movie...food...spending time with friends and family, and above all teaching.

I had Rui as my teacher for several months. One to one class with over 20 hours a week is pretty intensive, but I only felt that it was fun and engaging the way she was teaching me. I have had many teachers but Rui´s pedagogical approach is outstanding. Its not that easy to get hold a teacher that seems to have all the knowledge ,the ability to teach and engage on both grammar, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and the allways difficult pronunciation issues . Se gave me also self-selfconfidence to continue to learn this difficult language.
Excellent teacher in many aspects. Always try her best to allow students to improve their skills. Very patient and dedicated. Not to mention that we became good friends!
I attended the Keats School in Kunming, China where Rui was on the faculty. She had a reputation as one of the school's finest teachers. All the students that I spoke with who were assigned to Rui for one-on-one classes were very happy with their experience. When I returned to New York, I was pleased to find that Rui was doing a Masters at NYU. She has been tutoring me and I am very happy with the results. Rui takes a personal interest in the progress of her students. She is patient; an important quality for beginners. Rui also maintains high standards; she will make sure your pronunciation and grammar are correct. She can identify your weak areas and work on them. If you study with Rui, you will be in good hands. If you want to learn Chinese, take advantage of this opportunity.
Rui was my tutor when studying Mandarin in Kunming during one month. I had class one on one five days a week for four hours a day. You can't ask for any more from a tutor. Rui uses many different methods of teaching, which makes class fun and interesting, and she easily adapts to your level of knowledge, so you get the most out of every class. She also has in depth knowledge about Mandarin and Chinese culture as well as a great sense of humor. I improved my skills a lot thanks to Rui and I highly recommend her! Erik
Rui was my chinese teacher for several months. She is an effective and professional teacher: I improved my Chinese language skills significantly. She was using multiple teaching techniques to explain the material and to ensure my progress in grammar, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension. Moreover she has an engaging teaching style and kept my attention for each session (almost 4 hours!). Besides, Rui is a knowledgeable person. I enjoyed every single class, because she prepared for me interesting facts and stories about Chinese culture, traditions and history. Highly recommend her.
