EducationI graduated cum laude from Harvard College, having received a B.A. as a double major in social anthropology and romance languages and literatures with a minor in linguistics. Currently a member of Teach for America, I am finishing coursework for an M.S. at CUNY Hunter while teaching middle school and high school courses.
ExperienceAt Harvard, I worked as a tutor at the Bureau of Study Counsel and helped students with coursework in various subject areas. Having majored in two writing-intensive fields, I enjoy helping students shape their writing. Ultimately, I hope not only to provide students with advice and feedback that will address their current task but, more importantly, to equip students with strategies that will inform their writing approach as a whole, allowing them to confidently address difficulties when removed from tutoring sessions.
As a teacher, I work closely with college-bound high school students, honing resumes, refining personal statements, and teaching SAT strategies in addition to preparing students for admissions interviews. I am confident in my abilities to help students present themselves in the best light and enjoy guiding students through the college application process.
Working with students of all skill levels requires that I synthesize challenging material and ensure retention of information—demands that are both useful and necessary in teaching content in all subject areas. I was the Valedictorian at a Long Island school and a National AP Scholar, so I am familiar with the demands of standardized testing in New York and welcome the opportunity to help students effectively master content.
HobbiesCooking, traveling, foreign languages, playing alto sax, and exploring the city.

Taylor is an excellent tutor. He helped me a lot in writing my personal statements for grad school. He provided me with great advices and feedback. I will definitely recommend him!
Taylor is amazing! He helped me edit my grad school application essay and he really knows his stuff. He's super intelligent but also easygoing and hilarious. The quality and detail of his advice made me feel so much more confident about my essay. I would highly recommend him as a tutor!
Very smart and very friendly. Highly responsive (perhaps addicted to emails!) and flexible. What has impressed me most about Taylor is his ability to cut through the crap and help me get into the (otherwise boring) material quickly. He has never shown up unprepared, and I have yet to stump him. I definitely recommend him—and my parents do as well (they call him "trusty Taylor," haha)
