Education

Postbac/Graduate: Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons - MD Candidate, 2019 Columbia University, Postbac Premed Program - Certificate, 2014 Pace University, Master of Science in Teaching, 2007 Undergraduate: Bard College, BA, Biology and Photography, 2005 High School: Hunter College High School Stuyvesant High School

Experience

I have years of experience teaching math both as a certified NYC Math teacher and as a private math tutor. I hold a Master's degree specifically in the science of teaching math to students in the 7th-12th grades. This means that I not only have mastery of the material, but also of all the ways to tailor instruction to match the learning style(s) of your child. Even a tutor with a PhD in math won't necessarily know how to teach it. In fact, often tutors who have always had a high affinity for math make the worst and most frustrated tutors. Bottom line: I know math, I know the NY curriculum, and I love to teach. There's nothing wrong with hiring a college or graduate student looking for extra spending money. But as in all cases, you get what you pay for. If you want the best results, hire a professional teacher. My own test scores: MCAT: 100th Percentile SAT: 98th Percentile SHSAT: Highest cutoff, accepted to Stuyvesant Series 7: 92%
