Experience
I am a neuroscientist and currently a science teacher at a specialized/magnet high school. I have 10 years of experience tutoring at all levels, but have focused on working with students in math and science classes. I have tutored in student homes and through Kaplan. Over the past 10 years, I've worked with students from virtually every private school in the city. I've also helped college and graduate students with science essays, presentations, and term papers. Most of my SAT students (reasoning and subject tests) have scored in the 750-800 range on their chosen test or test section. All of my students have improved by 90-200 points. Please note that standardized test prep requires a minimum of 3 months and usually is a 4-6 month process. My rates vary based on the number of hours needed per week. The standard rate is $150/hr, but can be lower as follows: second and third hours per week - $125/hr fourth hour per week - $100/hr Essay editing and online sessions are usually $50-$75/hr.
