Private tutor in New York, NY
Education
I have a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Physics where I concentrated in High Energy Theory, and separate interests in History and Economics. I graduated this year with a GPA of 3.74 and received Honors for my senior year thesis in Supersymmetric Theory. I performed graduate level work in Physics, Math, and Economics, and wrote a range of well marked papers in History, particularly the History of Science, History of the French Revolution, and Early American Economic History.
Experience
I have been tutoring for more than 6 years, from writing, biology and physics peer tutoring within my high school to SAT test prep for college bound students to working with students taking the highest level of college physics, calculus, statistics and economics courses. I focus on breaking down difficult material into its intuitive building blocks and have found success with students of all backgrounds. I believe that any student has the ability to understand a concept as long as it is communicated clearly and without relying on confusing formal definitions. As for my own background, I scored a 2370 on the old SAT (perfect 1600 on the Math and Reading Subscore), got a 800 on the Bio SAT II, a 790 on the Math 2 SAT II, and 5's on the APUSH and AP Calc BC Tests. In addition I am a published co-author in supersymmetric theoretical physics, and have taken graduate level courses at an Ivy League institution in disciplines ranging from Physics to Economics to History. I feel strongly that teaching is part of how I engage with the things I am passionate about. Often a certain class or concept can be a barrier between a student and what they want to do, and I hope to help remove those barriers from a student's path!

Hobbies
Math, physics and tutoring isn't all I do! I am an avid outdoorsman, from running and biking to hiking and sailing. I competed for four years in college as a varsity sailor, so I know the importance of team work and time management! I have other teaching interests, as I worked as a certified group fitness trainer and as a sailing coach for many years. Finally, I am currently making good use of the chaos of this year to build a small camper to drive around and explore the country while working remotely!
