Experience

I have extensive experience as an educator and have taught music at the university level as well as worked with private voice and tutoring students of all ages. I have served on the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute, and Bach Akademie Charlotte's Vocal Fellows Program. I was a Gates Cambridge Scholar at the University of Cambridge and can share insights on the Oxbridge application process. My writing skills are honed through dissertation writing and other academic work, and I frequently provide marketing and promotional copy to arts organizations. I have excellent copy-editing skills and enjoy imparting wisdom on sentence structure, punctuation usage, and the use of succinct and persuasive vocabulary.

Hobbies

Most of my time is spent as a professional singer - I perform as a soloist and ensemble singer with leading national ensembles. When not performing, I serve as Executive Director for a non-profit arts organization and manage a second non-profit from the artistic side. Besides singing, my musical background includes choral conducting and historical performance, and my Master's degree was spent working with some of the finest university choirs in the world (in Cambridge). My academic interests include the intersection of Renaissance visual art and 16th-century Italian vocal music as well as florid ornamentation in 17th-century French airs de cour. I also frequently lecture on physical gesture for singers as a means of persuasive bodily communication to aid sung sentiment. I am an extremely active person and enjoy cycling (my husband and I are working towards multi-day bike-packing adventures), running, hiking, and yoga. I travel frequently and am in love with learning about new cultures and ways of life! Food is a great passion of mine, and I cook adventurous meals of all cuisines. I also enjoy creating things and have recently been re-discovering my love for knitting.
