Education
I hold a Doctorate in Genetics from the University of Queensland, Australia, where I also work and teach several subjects in biology, molecular biology, and genetics. I also hold a graduate diploma in Molecular Biology and a Bachelors degree in Biological sciences.
Experience
I have been an educator at the University of Queensland for seven years, teaching biology and genetics at first, second and third year levels as well as international Masters students. Part of my time is spent as a working scientist in the field of model organism genetics, where I study the genetics of ageing and metabolism. However, education is my greatest passion, and I work equally hard to bring clarity to my private students online and at the university. As a working university educator, I am able to leverage both my advanced knowledge of the subject material, and my intimate understanding of tertiary science education to give students the best possible chance of achieving their best. While I teach at all levels, my most common cohort is first-year pre-med students, from whom I regularly receive high praise for my ability to explain difficult and unfamiliar concepts in molecular biology and genetics.
