Experience
I received my Master's degree in American History from the University of Ghent, Belgium, and double majored in American History and Art History at UC Santa Cruz. I am currently a fifth Grade English and History teacher at a public middle school in Brooklyn, where I work with students in 5th through 8th grades in all middle school subjects. I have extensive experience working with ELL students, and with students with special needs. I love working with children, and I always strive to create a warm and nurturing environment for my students. I've found that when children feel safe and respected by their teachers, they are much more successful in school, and have a much more positive attitude towards learning. I am available to tutor students in a variety of subjects, including English, Writing, Art History, Spanish, and Biology. I can also work with students to prepare for the ACT, SAT, AP, SSAT, and ISEE exams.
