Experience

I graduated as a Presidential Scholar from the University of Southern California in 2017 with my Bachelor of Science degree in human biology and a minor in French. During 2017-2018, I was in the Schwarzman Scholars program in Beijing at Tsinghua University. The program is designed to prepare the next generation of global leaders with an understanding of China. Currently, I am completing my first year of medical school at Columbia as a VP&S scholar. I have two years experience tutoring young elementary and middle school students in mathematics and science both in the US and Canada. I worked as mathematics tutor first in high school for elementary students. Additionally, I worked with the USC Joint Education Project volunteering to teach science classes to local elementary and middle schools in downtown Los Angeles. While at USC I also played competitive ice hockey for the Trojans in the Pac 8 conference, captaining the team during my junior and senior year. I have extensive experience with numerous standardized tests. In high school I scored a 34 on the ACT, which placed me in the 99th percentile. I also have taken the SAT French subject test, English literature subject test, and the Mathematics subject test, where I scored an 800. In college I took the MCAT and scored a 525, which placed me in the 100th percentile. I also have experience with a variety of applications ranging from US and Canada undergraduate admissions to international fellowships and US and Canadian medical schools. I have also advised, edited, and helped write numerous friends' and colleagues' application essays. I enjoy being a tutor because it is very rewarding to help others build confidence in the classroom, understand difficult concepts, and achieve worthwhile goals, whether a great test score or an acceptance into a dream program.
