Teresitta V.
Private tutor in New York, NY
Education
I'm currently a 2nd year medical student at Columbia P&S. During undergrad, I studied Biology with a pre-medical focus at Columbia University and graduated in 2016. I graduated with a 3.6 GPA.
Experience
Most recently, I tutored a Barnard student in Molecular Genetics. Before that, I led an accelerated summer college algebra course for City University of New York students. I held weekly Skype sessions with these students, during which I would teach a new lesson and review past homework assignments. I often held additional Skype sessions with individual students so that I could better tailor the information to their particular learning style and make sure that they were keeping up with the material. I've also taught many health classes to high school freshmen throughout NYC public schools. I was also a TA for the advance biology Immunology course at Columbia. I really enjoy working 1-on-1 with students and helping them understand the material in a way that makes sense to them. As a Bio major, I've taken years of biology, chemistry, physics, and math. I also studied Spanish throughout my time in undergrad. I have since lived abroad in Medellin, Colombia and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Hobbies
I'm enthusiastic and enjoy motivating students! I know how to adjust lessons/materials to meet an individual's needs and learning style and won't hesitate to do so. In my spare time, I enjoy choreographing and teaching dance. I also volunteer for a student-run primary care clinic and serve as the clinic's Education Chair.
