Education

Current Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology Graduate of Smith College with a B.A. in Comparative Literature (High Honors) My GRE Verbal score (167) was in the 98th percentile. My SAT Verbal score was 750 (800 scale); my SAT Writing score was 770; my AP English test score was 5/5.

Experience

I am currently a PhD student in clinical psychology with extensive experience working with high school and college students, as well as adults, to maximize performance on standardized tests (GRE, MCAT, SAT, ACT), improve writing and reading skills, and write polished, professional applications to college or graduate school. I also provide editing and consulting services for academic writing. I always include organizational help and stress-reduction strategies in my work with students. Additionally, I tutor elementary and middle school students in a variety of subjects, focusing on developing confidence, building study and organizational skills, and providing customized attention to each student's individual academic needs. I tutor in the following subjects: ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FULL CURRICULUM MIDDLE SCHOOL FULL CURRICULUM PSYCHOLOGY - COLLEGE & GRADUATE LEVEL PSYCHOLOGY TEST PREP (GRE) ENGLISH AND LANGUAGE ARTS ESL WRITING AND EDITING VERBAL TEST PREP (GRE, MCAT, SAT) I try to provide the most supportive, stress-free approach tailored for each individual student, as I understand the unique stressors involved in striving for one's best on extremely difficult and competitive exams. Understandably, anxiety often overwhelms students trying to learn a new subject, improve their writing, or get higher verbal scores on entrance exams. I make sure to provide tips and tricks to reduce fear and re-gain control over long, intimidating verbal passages or timed essay tasks. I have specialized experience with pre-med students preparing for the Verbal (CARS) and Behavioral/Social Sciences sections of the MCAT. These sections can be particularly difficult for students who have devoted themselves to success in very demanding sciences throughout undergrad, then suddenly find themselves in unfamiliar territory with these challenging and lengthy reading-based sections. As a career-changer who studied literature in undergrad, then switched to health and social sciences as a post-baccalaureate student, I have a unique breadth of experience across many fields of study, from philosophy to abnormal psychology, and even organic chemistry. I am a Smith College alumna with a degree in Comparative Literature, earned with departmental high honors. Prior to beginning my doctoral studies, I did communications and digital media in variety of settings, including arts organizations, museums, hospitals, and mental health practices. I have conducted clinical research in university and hospital settings and have presented empirical research at national academic conferences.

Hobbies

I am thrilled to be studying clinical psychology and training to become a clinician. I have just wrapped up a year of training in a NYC public high school, where I provided therapy and academic support for students. I love working with adolescents and will pursue specialized training in child and adolescent psychology. In my free time, I enjoy weight-lifting, dance, and hanging out with my cat :)
