Private tutor in New York, NY
Union College - Bachelors, American Studies (Minor in History) , University of California-Los Angeles - Masters, Master of Education
I'm currently a graduate student at the University of California - Los Angeles, where I'm studying for a masters degree in education. I have a lot of experience working with students across all ages and from diverse backgrounds. I'm a very patient, compassionate, and creative person, and I believe that these skills drive my ability as a teacher and tutor. I have led prep courses in the ACT, tutored at the writing center on campus, and volunteered for after school programs. When I work with students, I listen intently to their needs and customize my plan accordingly. I have a learning disability myself, and I've used tutoring in the past, so I know what students are going through and how to help them. I figure out the learning style that is most prominent in my students and then teach them based on that. I also work hard to make lessons relevant and fun for students to keep them engaged and motivated. I can tutor students in subjects such as history, general elementary school topics, geography, English language and composition, grammar, literature, writing, reading, government, and test preparation for the ACT, SSAT, and other exams.
