I was fortunate enough to have one of my college teachers become my mentor. Working with this mentor has helped shape who I am as a person. I am really grateful toward my mentor because she taught me how to be a better person in addition to teaching me the knowledge I gained from her classes. Her example has shown me that education can have a profound impact on an individual and in turn create major benefits for society as well. My experience working with her has also shown me that lives can be changed when someone takes the time help others. One of the best ways to improve someone's life through education is through communication. My philosophy as a tutor centers around the fact that it is only possible to do well when someone is passionate about a subject. I am comfortable tutoring students in conversational Mandarin, Mandarin Chinese, and Cantonese. I enjoy being able to share my knowledge of Chinese with people from various cultures and backgrounds. I also believe in treating my students the way I would want to be treated. In terms of hobbies, I enjoy coffee, photography, traveling, learning new languages, watching movies, and visiting galleries and museums.
