ExperienceI am a tutor who specializes in teaching Mandarin Chinese. I started taking Chinese classes when I was 13 and have been interested in the language ever since. What made me seriously interested in Mandarin Chinese was living in Taiwan for two years in a service capacity. While living there I was immersed in the language and culture and was constantly speaking with people who were native speakers of the language. When I returned to the US, I decided to continue my studies of Mandarin Chinese due to an overwhelming interest in the language and culture. I have been studying advanced Chinese grammar since returning home and love it. In the past year I also got to experience teaching Mandarin to new language learners who were about to serve in areas of the world that speak Chinese, the same thing that got me so interested in Mandarin. Helping these people helped me improve my tutoring skills by making me realize that every student has varying needs and strengths and it is my job to find how the student learns best and employ that technique. By employing a technique that works best for that student they become passionate and proactive about using these techniques even beyond when they need my help.
