Private tutor in New York, NY
Gettysburg College - Bachelors, Psychology , New York University - Current Grad Student, Educational Leadership
I went to Gettysburg College to earn my bachelor's degree in psychology. I was always interested in teaching, but I figured out how much I enjoyed it about halfway through my undergraduate studies. I had given up playing baseball to begin coaching, I always enjoyed working with youth, but when I asked a former teacher for an internship, he set me up as a teacher's assistant in a math classroom in a middle school. I find it very gratifying to help students work through their struggles to understand math, and I was hooked. I began tutoring at a local elementary school while continuing to coach baseball and assist in summer school. I have three years of experience working in education, and I've helped students at the middle school and high school levels. These have been students who excelled, students who struggle, international students, and more. Once I graduated, I had the opportunity to work as a teaching assistant at a private boarding school. I've spent two years there teaching science and math, and I've honed my teaching style. As a tutor, I can assist students with algebra, calculus, geometry, pre-calculus, statistics, trigonometry, physics, GRE prep, SAT prep, and more. In my free time, I enjoy sports, animals, listening to music, and crossword puzzles.
