I graduated from the University of California-Berkeley with my bachelor's in English. From there, I earned my masters in professional writing at the University of Southern California. In addition, I am California-certified in school counseling, teaching, and administration. I served the Los Angeles Unified School District for 30 years. I spent some time each as a counselor, teacher, and school principal. As a tutor, I believe it is my role to do whatever it takes to support the student as they achieve full mastery of the subject. Whether I am tutoring in English, English as a Second Language (ESL), or math, I strive to bring humor and fun to every activity. I want my students to be engaged in the material, rather than just staring at it. I am well-versed in test prep for the TACHS or the SHSAT exams. I can teach valuable test-taking strategies as I review the material. By understanding the student's individual learning needs and style, I can develop a positive and support learning environment. When I'm not teaching or tutoring, I am often cooking and baking. I love to make cakes, pies, and cookies. I am enrolled in a playwriting course. I exercise on a daily basis.
