Experience
I earned my bachelor's in environmental economics and English literature from Colgate University. While enrolled at CU, I worked with my fellow students to prepare them for tests in English subjects. I particularly enjoyed tutoring students for the GRE and SAT verbal and writing sections. By teaching them strategies and techniques, I could help students feel less intimidated by the exams. I graduated from New York University with my masters in American literature and English. After graduating, I taught middle school English for a year. In addition to test prep, I love to work with students to write essays for college and graduate courses. I know teaching strategies that can improve a student's creative and analytical writing skills. In one-on-one tutoring, I develop personalized learning plans that focus on the student's goals, skills, and learning style. I believe that learning should be creative, engaging, and question-based. I encourage students to ask questions as they learn to further cement the information in their minds. In my free time, I love to write. I spend a lot of time working on short stories and other forms of creative writing. I enjoy reading anything I can get my hands on. I also like to hike.
