ExperienceI'm a tutor who is based in New York City, where I enjoy playing chess, kickboxing, and dancing when I'm not in the classroom working with students. I have my bachelor's degree in civil engineering from CUNY City College, and am able to help students as a tutor in a variety of subjects. In the past, I've helped students with math, Spanish, science, and standardized test preparation. My favorite scholastics subject is math, though, and I feel as though I have great expertise in it. Getting my engineering degree required me to learn a lot about the field of math, and I'm still using that knowledge today in my career. I've worked as a tutor since my high school years, where I helped other students in math and science subjects. I understand that practice makes perfect in school, and that's why I provide my students with a lot of targeted exercises when we work together. While I was in college I worked in a program called Urban Scholars, which gave the opportunity to tutor high school-aged students in math and physics. I've also done some freelance tutoring in math and English. I ensure that each of my lesson take into account the individual needs of my student and work collaboratively with that student to drive improvement.
