Experience
I have always had a passion for learning language. I am a native German speaker and I moved to New York City in 1999. My goal as a tutor is to help my students realize that learning can be interesting, rewarding and fun. I also understand that language is the most interesting and rewarding when they are immersed in the language and culture. I believe that language influences the way we think and the way we interact with other people. Furthermore, language has a way of shaping the way we see the entire world around us. I am available to tutor students in English, conversational German, ESL, and German. I also understand that just as with other subjects, it is important to design a lesson plan that fits with a student's preferences and interests to get the best results. To keep things interesting in my tutoring sessions, I provide practice questions and sample texts that fit with students' interests so that they stay engaged. Outside of school, I like translating, watching movies, exploring history, reading, skiing, literature, and visiting the theater. Overall, I feel like learning new languages is something that is extremely valuable because it helps people develop new perspectives.
