Experience
Coming from a family of teachers instilled a love of learning in me, and I strive to share that intellectual curiosity with my students. Nothing is more difficult or more rewarding than learning, and as a teacher I try to make that process as enjoyable and worthwhile as possible. Thanks to a broad liberal arts education at Blair Academy, Colgate University, and Haverford College, I have studied and tutored a variety of subjects, from physics to philosophy, but most of my teaching experience is in English language, especially writing and critical reading skills. Specifically, I have tutored middle and high school students on ELA as a freelance tutor and volunteer with Mighty Writers in Philadelphia, and I taught university undergraduates as a Global Academic Fellow in Writing at NYU Shanghai. I welcome working with ESL students from diverse backgrounds and all skill levels across the four key language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. I offer tutoring for AP courses, test prep, as well as any high school and university level courses that require researching and analyzing English texts or formulating reasoned (and grammatical) essays and papers.
