I have seven years of experience tutoring for high school and college students. I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to help students by highlighting points and techniques that I wish were shown to me when I was a student. Depending on the student’s need I will: give lessons focusing on explanations, work through example problems, lead students through problems, assist with specific questions, make up practice problems, and advise studying and exam-taking techniques. I assess the student’s progress and the effectiveness of a session and adjust my methods appropriately, but students benefit the most when they are in touch with their own understanding. Therefore, I encourage students to control how the session goes and I try to make students feel comfortable doing this. My primary concern is that students feel that they received what they needed from me so I am receptive to requests, suggestions and input of any kind.
