After attending Stuyvesant, New York City's elite college preparatory high school, I continued my education at Skidmore and Hunter colleges. As a tutor, I work hard to connect with and establish a great working relationship with my pupil. Creating this rapport ranks up there with mastering the material as an essential part of a great learning experience. Students will find me a flexible and tolerant teacher. To me, making mistakes is essential to the learning process. I encourage independent learning, and urge my students to pursue a subject freely without worrying about perfection. I view my role as a writing tutor extremely important. Competition at the best schools is fierce. The ability to earn a place at a top school is sometimes determined by a student's ability to convey his or her thoughts effectively in an essay. As a tutor, I believe I share a responsibility of making sure my students have the best chance of succeeding. When I'm not educating my students, I enjoy a varied assortment of activities. These include watching James Bond movies and basketball, reading cartoons in the New Yorker, and reading anything from Malcolm Gladwell and Dan Ariely. My teaching philosophy is "With trust, all learning is possible."
