Experience
Right now I'm an undergraduate and going for Materials and Science and also Economics. I have tutored high school kids in the past, and helped them with science and mathematics. Apart from general courses, I have also tutored younger children in swimming, and some university students in the martial art of Kendo. I act as a sort of guide for students just entering their freshman year in college. I assist at this university with getting students prepared and also helping them with transitioning from high school to college. Whatever problems or concerns they have, whether it is settling into college life or basic questions, I am there for them. I have tutored many different courses, but mainly tutor math and calculus, and also certain parts of the SAT exam. I enjoy teaching math due to the fact that once it is learned and the concepts are ingrained, these are skills and knowledge many will use later in life. It's best in my opinion to first master the basics, then have the student work their way up to more difficult and complex classes. When it comes to my tutoring style, I am adamant that students ask questions. I stress if they don't ask, then this will obviously affect them later on. So it's important to ask questions and not just go with the flow and appear understanding, but inside feeling totally lost. When I'm not teaching I read and practice Kendo.
