EducationI studied Pharmaceutical Sciences and graduated Magna Cum Laude with Distinction for writing a thesis about the synthesis of organic compounds to treat a deadly African disease called African Sleeping Sickness. During this time, I won a competitive fellowship, a competitive scholarship and my work was later published in the Journal Medicinal Chemistry. After graduating, I spent two and a half years in a biomedical research laboratory looking at disease pathways of a childhood kidney disease called Nephrotic Syndrome.
ExperienceI'm Josh, the founder of Manley Tutors and a private science instructor here in New York city. In early 2010 I decided to quit my job in bio-medical research to focus on my passion to help students learn, understand and enjoy science.
Since then I have helped dozens of students achieve grades they never thought were possible by helping them break down complex information into understandable bits, by focusing on the biggest and most important concepts and by incorporating holistic learning techniques to aide in memory, learning and understanding. To my knowledge, my company is the first in Manhattan to take into account such factors as proper nutrition, exercise and visualization.
